5.8g/90ml Toronto filtered tap.

Damp leaves are sweet-smelling, woody incense. Initial steeps have some slight smoke, and a tiny bit of char.

Main steeps are thick, bittersweet, warming along the core. Opens the throat. Sweetness is restrained in the arrival but develops after swallowing.

The liquor is quite concentrated. Very thick. Feeling is slightly overwhelming – Strong Frisson and a bit of deer in the headlights.

Quite strong astringency as steeps progress, and some char.

Later steeps are quite concentrated, qi is persistent. Focusing, strong warming. In comparison with the 2004 BYH Yiwu, this tea is significantly less sweet, not leathery, so it doesn’t have as prominent of a typical sweet leather Yiwu profile. They have similar levels of storage, but the DTH is slightly drier stored, which is clear especially in the first couple of steeps. The DTH retains a bit more strength in its effects, but the BYH has a more interesting sweet incense resinous component. 7.9
